How small are you talking? Keyrings only need a tiny piece and the mags always have smallish designs that would fit.

A tip given to me for the bits too small to use are to save them and put them out for the birds to use in their nests

Any useable pieces I keep for gift-tags, keyrings etc, but any too small I give to a craft-group locally who cut them up smaller to use in collages and stuff.
Also one year I had lots of tiny bits of thread left including metallics that were too small to use for anything else so I filled a perspex bauble (available rom craft shops) with them mad hung it on the christmas tree Smile

That's a great idea,.

I have an empty Muiller pot beside me that I throw all scrap threads into, but then like Mortal, I throw my out for the birds for their nests...

I was after a bauble or something similar as I have a large collection of bits of ribbon (the sort you have on tops/dresses to keep them on the hangers) I always cut them off as they get on my neres. I was thinking they would look pretty all together in a bauble to hang on my tree. Any ideas where I can look online?

Well depends on how small the pieces off fabric left over are. But like others have said you could do keyrings, gift tags, etc.

Or you could try stitching to small pieces off fabric together like I have - please see the link below for pictures (I got the idea from New Stitches Magazine, Issue 184):
