Are you on a diet? is it going well? what diet would you recommend?
i'm really fed up, have been on WW for 4 wks & on Monday i'd lost a total of 5lbs, weighed this morning & 2 of those pounds are back on Its reaaly frutrating, Isaac is not sleeping & I am getting between 1&3hrs sleep a night, do you think my body is holding onto the calories to fuel my nights when I am awake but not eating? Wondering whether to try a different diet? Slimming world? Atkins? calorie counting? I've just cut back on portions and it seems to be coming off slowly.
Have you heard of the cambridge diet? Supposed to help you loose weight fast but it's quite expensive to do! |

I've just cut down too - mostly the bread. I don't eat cakes and only a few biscuits. I don't normally eat a lot of choc either so that helps. Takeaways and eating out is rare now too. I've lost 2 stone since last year so very happy with my new weight. (So is my heart specialist)

Would it be that time of the month Carrie. I know that I usually either stay the same or put on around that time even if I've been good. Well done on what you've lost so far. Don't get too disheartened

Thank you everyone for your replies, its just really getting to me that I stick to it 100% no cheating & it doesnt work
Have decided just to take it easy for a couple of weeks, healthy eating, no wieghing, no scales & see what happens. I think I may pop to the docs & get a thyroid check as it runs in the family as well. Thoroughly fed up with it all! Hi, Over the past 2 years I have slowly managed to lose 4½ stone, health issues make most exercise out of the question.
The way I have managed is basically the following -: I make sure I eat breakfast every day (normally porridge or 2 slices of toast). For lunch I normally have a small but filling meal such as ½ a tin of beans on 2 slices of un-buttered wholemeal toast, or a small bowl of soup, or a pitta bread with salad and a small amount of humous etc, followed by a piece of fruit. For dinner I normally have something like cous-cous and dry stir fried veg, home made soup/stew, pasta with a veg and tomato home made sauce etc, followed by a piece of fruit & a soya yoghurt. The main rules I stick to is that I always eat 3 meals a day, I use only a side plate for all of my meals including dinner to reduce portion size, I drink 2 litres of water a day (I have a filter jug in the fridge and from that I fill 2 1 litre bottles of water and then slowly sip at them throughout the day, I limit my bread intake to a maximum of 3 slices a day (wholemeal) and if I want a snack (which I try not to do) I always have chopped celery, carrot, watercress etc in the fridge ready. I will though say that I am vegan (I was vegetarian since birth, but turned vegan only a year ago) so I have never eaten meat, fish etc, but I now no longer eat, any dairy products or basically anything that has come from a living or dead animal, which does reduce my fat intake, but means that I have to add pulses, soya etc to meals to ensure I am getting all the protein, vitamins etc that I need, I also don't drink and haven't done for years as I am epileptic and the two don't mix well. As I can't exercise really, even swimming has obstacles my weight loss hasn't been amazing (4½ stone in 2 years), but I do feel that I am slowly getting there I still ideally need to lose a further 3-4 stone. On special occasions such as Birthdays, Christmas etc I do allow myself a lot more leniency and just try to be careful but enjoy myself. It would definitely be worth getting your doctor to check out your thyroid if it runs in your family and also like others have said at that time of the month as well as sometimes mid month (ovulation) I do often weigh a couple of pounds more but these seem to go pretty much always after they have finished. I weigh myself only once a week and keep no scales in the house (I go to Boots as their scales also do body fat etc). I must admit I found this type of diet hard when I started but to be honest I have pretty much got adjusted and used to it and I have so much more energy than I used to (I would think that is down not only to the weight loss, but as I always now try to make sure I eat only home cooked food, not ready meals and eat a lot of fresh veg and fruit everyday and drink a lot lot more water than I ever used to), my skin and hair have also massively improved. If I ever do get down (I used to use food as a treat/pick me up, which I don't do anymore) I now reward myself with a little stitchy present which may cost a tad more but which is definitely more fun Good luck with your diet and stitch whenever temptation comes your way (It 9 times out of 10 works for me). Hugs and Happy Stitching Georgina ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So much to stitch, so little time! |

I think poss your feelin a little down at the mo and a little more sensitive cos your so drained sweetheart.Maybe you need to focus on looking after yourself rather than worrying bout weight.I'm not saying binge out I think you just need to relax about it a little more.If your physically tired the last thing your body wants to do is focus on dieting surely? Then when you feel more on top again as in getting 5/6 hrs a night then you could re think the whole thing x

Carrie, stick with WW. It's a new wayof eating for the rest of your life. Healthily.
You'll find hiccoughs along the way but always look at the last 4 weeks. As you say you've put on two pounds but they could leave you as fast as they arrived. You've done really well, our leader advises a small loss is a loss. If we hadn't lost we may have been several pounds lighter. You will get there. Try the website forums. Always someone there who has a good idea that will suit you too. Sending lots of positive vibes. ann |
