So pleased we didnt,

Stuart had a car garage looking at his car yesterday cos he has a slight oil leak, and they took the wheels off and ordered some parts cos he needs some new parts, but they arent uber urgent, so he left the garage and came to pick me up from work, we were leaving work and we were driving up the road, and we heard a clunking noise, next thing we know, the left front side of the car drops (we were in a 4x4 it dropped quite far)

We got out of the car and his front passenger side wheel had fell right off, the _meta_l bit that holds the wheel on was on the floor.

Turns out when the garage put the wheels back on the hadn't tightened them properly.

I am just so pleased we were only going 10mph!

If we had of been going any faster, we could have died, we could have killed someone else, its so scary

The AA came out the couldnt fix it, so we had to wait an hour and a half for a recovery truck to come and get us and the car, so that came, and we took the car to the garage and we had to leave it outside, and then Stu's dad came to get us from the garage and took us to Stu's and thankfully we still have the Trooper (which we are going to sell) so we picked that up and came back to mine, it was a nightmare!

I know Carol me too!!! Its ****** scary thinking about what could have happened, I mean so many things can go wrong with cars and you can get really hurt or worse!

Thanks funky_fairy

Yes we are going to complain, we are going to demand they fix it all free of charge! I think they might have even broke the wheel, and they cost £100 a tyre as they are speical wheels you can use on the road and off road

No good thinking like that though. It didn't happen, and thats the important thing.

I couldn't believe what I was reading here. You won't believe this, the same happened to me. A week after having a miscarriage, following a operation. we also had the car serviced, it needed new tyres. They didn't do the nuts up tight, what little nuts were left, after the loose tyre wearing the nuts off, causing a dreadful noise, told by garage when we contacted them, the noise was another complaint which didn't need attention straight away, the noise got louder ands worst. To eventually driving down a narrow lane, only room for one car at a time, just turned off a 60mph bypass into this lane, heard this dreadful clonk as the whole wheel unit came away from the car, taking and snapping half off the front passagers side of the car with it, i.e brakes, disc pads, side wing etc. skided down this hill leaning on front disc, steered it into the hedge, for car to come to a stand still. Thank christ, no-one was coming the other end, probably like yours would of ended in a huge pile up, with deaths. You didn't go to the same garage as me did you??
I know how frightened and shaken up you must of been, thank goodness you were alright. The car is due for a service soon, a little worried. Jane x
