been stitching since we got back from Camys house around 2am, have spent more time unpicking than stitching, peed off with little piddly projects, wish i was back doing my Aurora Cabin, Mrs P thinks its hilarious that I keep messing up small card projects more than when im doing a large project, she reckons its because my heart is not in it, feel like binning the lot and sticking to my larger projects. End of moan.
Lol, I know exact what you are meaning, I tend to make more mistakes on small things then on big ones. And all the small areas that makes it hard to secure the thread. Ony cure I know is to make more, practice makes perfect. ^^ (and one annoyed stitcher from Sweden)

The problem with small cards is that any mistake becomes more noticeable whereas you can hide the odd stitch mistake on a large project.
I find them fiddly as I never feel comfy holding just the material and they never fit into a hoop or frame.
I did consider doing a few on a larger piece of material on a frame and cutting them afterwards ( does that make sense?) but I need to finish the project I'm doind now first which I have lost the enthusium for.
I'll soldier on Louise LOL Tigress, Mrs P does that sometimes, it is difficult to grip small pieces of aida so she divides a larger bit of aida into 4 say and then do 4 different projects in one, and then as you say, cut them out, so in answer to your question, it makes a lot sense.
You don't have to stitch the cards, Piper... You could just listen to the little voice in your head telling you to go out and buy some and go back to more fun stitching. You know you want to...

Newton I do know, but its not the same when you send your SS a bought card, not that there is anything wrong with bought cards, Mrs P will prob have half a dozen done by the time I finish my second one.
Piper I am fed up at the moment making cards.. Its getting to that time of year when I have to be ready to sell my cards for the MS Society at work. I have been stitching every night for a year and have and I have a pile of stitching still that I have to make into cards and then I am going to have to start all over again. I do make the cards up as I go along but I have left my pile a little to high this time. I have not even had a chance to make friend card at the moment. I am sure your cards will look lovely once finished. Looking forward to seeing some photos.
Know how you feel Piper. Every year I say I am going to stitch my cards and never get on with it, it's the little bits of fabric that put me off, they kill my shoulders to hold them. I always find much more interesting Christmassy things to stitch.

I have yet to do any xmas cards, may just do one for my SS too and close family. Just can't find the motivation for them especially as I'm enjoying working on Tutankhamun so much!
You hit on the secret there. Piper. You're not enjoying the little stuff so you want to get it done in a hurry so you can get back to the Aurora Cabin, which is beautiful so far. I can't imagine you giving up on anything you've started though. Sing a couple of Christmas carols while you're stitching, OK?
Originally posted by tubbsy: I know that you mean Piper - I just won't stitch cards Piper. Especially as most people do not appreciate the work that goes into them.
That's exactly why I don't do them! When a stitchy friend makes me a x stitch card I have it on display for a few days and then I turn it in to a book mark or put in on the wall but you can spend hours on them and people just throw them away! Argh!
Piper - sorry to hear about the frogs. I reckon you should go back to your Aurora Cabin as it's looking lovely already. Hope the cards magically do themselves then!

Piper I suggest you go back to what you enjoy doing. At the end of the day you are suppose to enjoy your hobby. I am going to make one cross stitched card for a friend and thats it.
I only did one or two cards this year but think I will stash them in my drawer until next year. I can't get motivated on cards this year for some reason.
I haven't got any work colleagues and I don't bother sending any to family as we never really bother.
So, I'm just going to concentrate on the presents I am making at the moment!
