Hi! It's my first ever post on here Smile

Been doing cross stitch for about 2 years now but fancy a change from cards and pictures. I'd love to stitch on one of those towels with an aida band on them like Rico.

If anyone has used them, can you tell me what happens with the back of the stitching? Surely it would look a mess, so what should I cover it with that would withstand washing....

Any ideas gratefully appreciated! Thanks.

i stitch on towels, make sure the back is as neat as possible and anchor your threads well.
apart from that, it's just the same as stitching on "normal"" aida

welcome to the forum

Hi, I have done a few of them - I use the dmc ones. I have never covered the back, just keep it as tidy as possible and make sure you secure the ends properly under stitches.
Give it a go, it really is a change to the normal things to stitch.

wow thanks for all the replies, you're a friendly bunch! It's nice to be welcomed Smile

For some reason, my stitching never looks neat on the back...maybe I need more practise!

I've read about iron-on interfacing in mags but have never used it - would that be suitable or does it make the fabric all stiff?

Never done towels before, but I've stitched on a couple of t-shirts and put a piece of iron-on interfacing on the back of my stitching. It won't make it stiff, but it's still going to be slightly see-through.
