just heard on the grapevine that a family member (well, sort off by marriage/adoption really) has bought a pub in Yorkshire. Haven't had one in the family since my sister had hers in London back in the 70's. So somewhere else to visit next year if I make it over. Big Grin

Sounds lovely.

I have no idea what most of my 'close' relatives are up to, never mind what my distant rellies are doing. I only found out last year that I actually have second cousins in Australia somewhere. Typical that I only find out AFTER I spent over 4 months there and visited other people's friends and relations Roll Eyes Big Grin

I haven't actually done anything to try and track them down as it's going to be difficult to even start. It was my dad's uncle who emigrated but my dad doesn't remember his uncle's first name or the names of any of his cousins so I'd have to go back to my (deceased) grandad's birth certificate to find his parents names and try to work from there.

my BIL never knew he had a daughter until last year! She is now 46 and lives in Canada. It's her half-brother that is taking over the pub.

The pub is in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire. It's called The Malt Shovel.

My mothers brother ran a pub in Shrewsbury with his wife.

Hard work and difficult to get holidays unless you have someone you can really trust to help you.
Hope they do well.
We have a route taking us near Boroughbridge when we visit Yorkshire, might have a detour next time.

Hope they make a resouding success of their new venture.
